type Press release

There must be no new road building without a road pricing strategy. All of the road building announced today is outside the M25. Without a comprehensive road-pricing strategy for the south-east, this will funnel hundreds of thousands of extra cars towards London. How is London expected to cope with the extra traffic this stand-alone policy will produce?

Unless backed up with real resolve, today's announcement will be seen as nothing more than a quick political fix that postpones and worsens crucial decisions affecting millions of travellers at London’s expense."
